Newborn mini sessions are such a great option for families who have a tight budget or if mom and dad aren’t feeling quite camera-ready just yet.
Over the years I’ve talked to moms who have missed out on newborn photos and are sad they don’t have keepsakes from that special time with their precious babies.
The most common reasons for skipping a newborn session are a tight budget, being sleep-deprived, mom still has some baby weight or mom and dad just plain forget until their baby is already weeks old.
That’s why I started the newborn mini sessions. I just know how precious and meaningful having these photos of your baby will be and I want to make it easy and accessible for every family.
Here are a few of my favourite captures from Miss Hanna’s mini session.
I always try to capture a yawn, a stretch or a funny expression if possible. It adds animation and movement in a still photo. It also showcases a small glimpse of your baby’s unique personality. Some of these little habits and quirks dissapear before you know it and some actually stay as baby grows.
Details like finger, toes and lips are very important to record. They are often forgotten but even in my mini sessions I make a point of recording the smallest or details for parents to look back on years from now. I also pay attention to hand placement and expressions.
Another perspective I try to incorporate in my newborn mini sessions is parents’ hands. Either holding a tiny foot to show size difference or just hands cradling baby to show love and protection is so precious.
