Maternity Session FAQ

Maternity photographer Victoria BC Studio photography session

Hi and welcome to our Maternity session information page.

Here is some of the juicy info you might need to decide whether or not to book a maternity photo shoot.

Studio or Outdoors?

I have a beautiful home studio in Cordova Bay which is easily accessible and lovely to use all year round. I also do outdoor maternity sessions from spring to fall. I have 4 favorite spots that you can see in the slide-show below.

Which days are you available?

I book Maternity sessions weekdays at 11am or 1pm. I also have limited weekends or evening spots available but these get booked up months in advance so be sure to call as early as possible.

What would I wear? Do you have outfits available?

My studio is filled with a selection of full coverage dresses, sheer gowns, wraps and lace that will make you look and feel fabulous! I also encourage you to bring a favorite loose fit sweater, jeans, lace underwear or anything else you feel beautiful when wearing.

I have very neutral and timeless outfits if you want to keep things simple and I also have very dramatic gowns that will make you feel like a princess. You can check out the slide-show below to pick out the outfits you like best and let me know before the session day. I also have a great Pinterest board filed with stylish maternity outfit ideas.

Can I bring my partner and my child/children?

Yes! Spouses and children are welcomed! I love including them in sessions and will present a beautiful variety of images with them and with just you.

Do you offer hair and makeup?

I am not a makeup expert so I don’t do it myself but if you would like a little pampering before your session I have two wonderful makeup artists that I recommend to my clients. They live close to my studio and are quite flexible with appointments if you give them enough notice, they will happily create a soft and glowing look for your session.

Do I have to get professional makeup done for my session?

Not at all! Most of my clients choose to do their own makeup and look fabulous in their photos!

When should I book my session?

I usually recommend booking your maternity session when you are 6 months pregnant so you can secure the date you prefer. The actual photoshoot should be done between 32 and 36 weeks so you show but are still comfortable. If you want a weekend spot I would recommend calling when you are 5 months pregnant.

I’m already 8 months pregnant, am I too late to book my session?

I sometimes have last-minute schedule changes because of early/late babies, weather and other reasons so I have a waiting list available for last-minute appointments. It never hurts to ask 🙂 😉

How much is the maternity session?

My studio maternity sessions are $275 + tax and include 10 digital files with print release. My outdoor maternity sessions are $350 + tax and include 15 digital files. I usually present 20 to 30 images to choose from and additional images are available for purchase if you love them all!

Do you offer more than digital files?

Yes, I am a full-service photographer which means I have in-person order appointments available. I offer archival prints, custom wall art (canvas, metal, acrylic, framed) photo jewelry, custom-designed albums (3×3 to 12×12) and more.
